Become a Better Muslim Project

As i was walking through the net, I came by an amazing blog, whose creator had come up with a wonderful project, one worth sharing..http://blog.iloveallaah.com/2010/06/become-a-better-muslim/#connect_0

A challenge to discipline our nafs (soul); leave sins, engage in more good deeds and race towards the Forgiveness and Mercy of Allah (SWT)

For fifteen days, let's challenge ourselves to DROP some sins and ADD some good deeds from our lives.

You do not have to reveal the sins or good deeds. That remains between you and Allah! A promise between you and your Rabb..

First Part of the Challenge:

DROP Sins:

-Disobeying Parents
-Not Praying
-Smoking (Yes, hookah/shisha counts!)
-Not Wearing Proper Hijab
-Viewing Pornography
-Unncessary Freemixing
-Listening to Music
-Riya (showing off)

Motivation: “Except those who repent and believe (in Islamic Monotheism), and do righteous deeds; for those, Allaah will change their sins into good deeds, and Allaah is Oft‑Forgiving, Most Merciful.

And whosoever repents and does righteous good deeds; then verily, he repents towards Allaah with true repentance”

[al-Furqaan 25:70-71]

Second Part of the Challenge:

ADD Good Deeds

-Being Dutiful to Parents
-Reading Qur'an
-Dhikr Throughout Day/Night
-Praying Optional Prayers
-Charity (Even if it's small)
-Helping Other Muslims
-Seeking Knowledge
-Attending Lectures
-Praying at Masjid
-Memorizing Qur'an and Understand it
-Repentance/Seeking Forgiveness
-Helping Community
-Correcting Self and Family
-Implementing Qur'an/Hadeeth

Motivation: “Whoever works righteousness — whether male or female — while he (or she) is a true believer (of Islamic Monotheism) verily, to him We will give a good life (in this world with respect, contentment and lawful provision), and We shall pay them certainly a reward in proportion to the best of what they used to do (i.e. Paradise in the Hereafter)”

[al-Nahl 16:97]

Good Deeds Suggestions: Here or Here

Are you up for the challenge?

If you are up for the challenge, make a promise to yourself:

I, ____, will join the I LOVE Challenge: Become a Better Muslim. I will try my BEST to drop sins I commit and engage in good deeds which I can do continuously throughout the next month (and insha'Allah many more months after that).

They had even made a checklist..Just in case we need to check out what has not yet been done or what should we abandon.Cool..

Well, though the project had ended, it is never too late for us to take up the challenge. There is'nt an expiry date for us to engage in good deed and abstain from sins, until death invites us or the Last day approaches.

All we need is just Mujahadah and Istiqamah..
We are Muslims, but we are also human beings, who forget and do make mistakes. In fact, our iman is not consistent .There are times when we want to always do good deeds and repent for all the sins that we have done , yet, there are also times when we forget, and it's just hard to even do something small.
However, there's always room for improvement, and Allah S.W.T had promised in his Holy Quran

(132) And vie one with another for forgiveness from your Lord, and for a paradise as wide as are the heavens and the earth, prepared for those who ward off (evil);
(133) Those who spend (of that which Allah hath given them) in ease and in adversity, those who control their wrath and are forgiving toward mankind; Allah loveth the good;
(134) And those who, when they do an evil thing or wrong themselves, remember Allah and implore forgiveness for their sins - Who forgiveth sins save Allah only? - and will not knowingly repeat (the wrong) they did.

That's it. Let's seek for HIS forgiveness always, and ask from HIM the strength, to become a better MUSLIM, to enjoin what is good and forbid evil. It may sound easy, but it would take the hell of the world to do it.Seriously.We all know that.

May Allah bless and shower us with his blessings always,as with his blessings only could we keep on living on this temporary world as his Khalifah, carrying out what he had implemented on us.AMIN.

Allah knows best..

~the beginning~

What is the purpose of me having a blog? I am just not sure what to write.I guess whatever comes into mind, I'll put it down into words into this new blog of mine. It never occurred to me that i'll have my own blog where i could just write whatever i wanted. Alas, I should use this medium for Islam. To enjoin the good and forbid the evil, and as they say, preach trough the virtual world. I believe that we should have more blogs that tell the truth about Islam, to show that Islam is not what people always think. We have like thousands Islam haters who do not have the true idea what Islam really is, and i think that our my responsibility to let them know, though I too have lots more to learn. The prophet once said that

" tell people what you know, even though it is just an ayah"
We should use every means there are to do so, so people will shift their paradigm and see Islam at a better angle. This is indeed our job.In Fact,it is all Muslims job.
However, to note,I am not that expressive. sometimes, I prefer hearing other people's ideas, then respond to it. I'll guess that is me.well, maybe by having my own blog, i could improve the way I think and also my writing, that's it. This is the beginning, and i hope i won't lose the momentum to write more.Lot's more to learn. InsyaAllah.

Allah knows best..
